Abby's entry into the mortgage industry began in 1984 as a summer intern at a mortgage brokerage firm while she was a student in the School of Management at Boston University. Abby returned to Chicago upon graduation and worked at Citibank in the real estate group as a construction and rehab lender. There she developed a vast network of architects, developers, lawyers, and realtors.
In 1992, ready to delve into the entrepreneurial world, Abby joined forces with two young attorneys who had recently started a real estate development company and were eager to start a mortgage brokerage firm to service their own clients' needs. That company, Prism Mortgage Company, grew from three people in a storefront office in the Lakeview neighborhood to more than 2,600 employees with offices from coast to coast. In 1999, Prism Mortgage Company went public through an IPO and in 2000 the Royal Bank of Canada bought out the company.
In 2001, Abby feeling she could make more of a contribution to a smaller company with growth potential joined an existing Chicago mortgage company and by 2004 she was with the Chicago office of a company headquartered in New York with licensing to lend to her clientele nationally.
Abby comes to PERL Mortgage with 25 years of mortgage and real estate experience and is proud to be affiliated with PERL because of its excellent reputation.
Abby has been on Fox News, ABC News, the Oprah documentary, and quoted in the Wall Street Journal as well as appeared as a panelist on real estate investing discussions. She is a graduate from the Wexner Heritage Foundation's leadership development program. She is the very proud mother of two daughters, Madison and Emily. In her "spare time", Abby manages and develops small residential property, is involved in charitable organizations, on the Board of Directors at her kids' school, and enjoys working out. Abby is a firm believer that most places a person goes each day offer a networking opportunity.
