I consider my clients as my friends; paying close attention to their needs and retaining the highest regard for their personal and financial well-being.”

Q - What did you want to be when you grew up?
A – I pictured myself becoming a leader and a business man so I knew that I wouldn’t pursue any of those careers. I personally enjoyed working with my dad on Saturdays at the car dealership; it allowed me to develop great communication skills while I had the pleasure of observing several different walks of life.

Q – What made you pursue a career in the mortgage industry?
A – In my real estate class, during my final year at DePaul, I was encouraged by my good friend to pursue a career in the mortgage industry. At the time, I was working for my dad, who insisted that it would be an unprecedented experience for me to work for someone else.
My friend was astounded by my persistence when I decided to go for it and that’s when he put me in touch with a group of guys who just launched a small mortgage firm. I brought the entire office Persian food, so during my first interview we were eating shish kabobs and rice.

Q – What resulted in your choice to join forces with PERL Mortgage?
A – Perl Mortgage has an excellent reputation and is not distant from what the true essence of the business is, which is ORIGINATION. The owners of the company originate loans themselves; they are in the battlefield every day, if you will. Perl’s culture is intact and there is tremendous opportunity for growth. I knew that this was the best place for my team and me to come and be able to offer great interest rates and provide a smooth process for our clients.

Q – What differentiates you and your team from the other “mortgage guys”?
A - It is our unique personality as a team and our notable characteristics that differentiate us. Our high level of touch to our business partners and clients separates us by substantial margins.
We are true believers in giving. Whatever we can do to build and maintain deep relationships with our clients we are willing to do. If we have to drive them from their closing to their new condo, if we need to help them move their furniture, if they call us when they are going thru tough times – whatever the need may be, we will be there to preserve our friendships with our clients and business partners. To us, the transaction alone does not constitute a relationship.

Q – Describe your work environment…
A – Very electric – high octane – FUN. When you think of our work environment you just smile. It’s not a cubicle office. We have the ability and flexibility to do whatever we want here and we have a blast. Our environment is truly special.

Q - What are some of your favorite places to travel?
A – I like to go anywhere where there’s a beach: the Caribbean and the Bahamas are a couple favorites. I would like to travel to some more exotic places, such as Tahiti, Bora Bora, and Australia. I truly believe that traveling enlightens your mind, gives you a clearer perspective of the world around us and accentuates all the possibilities out there. I love to learn about different cultures.
Also, Chicago winters take a toll on me. I have to be in warm weather at some point.

Q - What gives you that On Top of the World feeling?
A – I’m very competitive and love to go the extra mile. When I am able to help someone, I feel complete joy; it makes me feel more spiritual and closer to finding my true purpose here.

Q – What is a morning in the life of Amir like? What motivates you?
A – I’m really not a morning person, although I do wake up early. The morning is a meditation time for me; I need my time to read – I’m always reading; I need my time in prayer; I need my time to think. I think about my life and the blessings that have been given to me. I take my time to get ready each morning. I make coffee for my fiance in her favorite mug because I know that’s what she likes; I then make myself six scrambled egg whites and Kellogg’s with chocolate chips, grab a piece of fruit, a bottle of water and I’m out the door.

Q – What motivates you?
A – I am very highly motivated by success. I am motivated to be the best in this business. I thrive for the recognition and wish to always deliver a WOW factor.

Q – What has been your most memorable moment throughout your career?
A - I would have to say when I was selected as a guest speaker for “The Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour” in 2011. The pre-requisite was being under thirty with a start-up company that sells 1 million a year. I was able to speak in front of college students, which was extremely memorable, honorable, and notable on a one-on-one level. On a team level, I recognize that I am very blessed to be working with the people that I work with. It is a career accomplishment in itself to pinpoint talent and to give each member of my team the confidence and motivation – it really is a beautiful thing.

Q – What is something that most others do not know about you?
A – I write with my right hand but am really a lefty. I do everything else with my left hand. Also, I was born in Iran. Most people would be afraid to say that, but I am proud of my culture.

Q- What is your proudest professional accomplishment?
A – Launching my business, “American Street Mortgage Company”, at the age of 24. It was an incredible experience; it taught me so much. I made a lot of mistakes but I learned from them.

Q – What do you do when you’re not ingrained in your work?
A – I love to read. I love to go to dinners and finish off a great work week with a cocktail. I also love to play basketball – it is the greatest stress relief. I think about it constantly and often daydream about it. It’s a great feeling to walk onto the court and have four guys by your side that depend on you and vise versa.

Q – Who is your idol and why?
A – “Idol” is a strong word. I wouldn’t necessarily say that I have idols, but I do have people who inspire and influence me. Without a doubt, my dad is one of them. He has this spirit about him, he is very wise. He is very humble and patient and smart. People love my dad. He is a very simple guy, unassuming, and successful. He doesn’t need much to be happy. I would never be where I am in business without him. He has taught me how to handle money, how to portray myself and how to be classy while doing so. He is also a man of his word. When he says something, it is promised.

Q – The age old question, but we have to ask, where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A - I see myself being very successful, married with two kids, and having a very beautiful home. My door will always be open; I will always invite people to come over.
With all the things that I have learned in my life, and at such a young age, I believe that I can inspire and help people. I am convinced that there is a higher calling for me.
